Podcasts and Lectopia
Podcasts are digital media files that can be played back on a computer or via a personal audio player such as an iPod. Podcasts can be made available as RSS feeds, and may be subscribed to in a feed reader or iTunes.
The University of Melbourne has a centrally supported audio recording system known as Lectopia that can be used for recording scheduled lectures within a subject. These recordings are automatically turned into podcasts, and can be linked to the associated LMS subject site.
The LMS also caters for pre-recorded audio files that are not part of the Lectopia system. Staff can upload their own digital media files using the Podcast tool in the LMS.
